Why we celebrate the World Environment Day? On this day in 1972 in Stockholm was held UN Conference dedicated to the environment in which is adopted the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The aim of this program is to raise citizens awareness of the importance of environmental protection and wider, awareness of countries whose actions adversely affect the environment. World Environment Day is celebrated every yeah under different slogan and this year is "Raise your voice, not the level of sea". Climate changes are a global theme of our time. Scientists are reporting that the Arctic is warming twice as fast as the rest of the planet, and that the frozen seas every year are more and more withdrawn, mostly as a result of global warming. Polar components contain about 99 percent of the world's fresh water. Reports indicate that the annual reduction of Greenland ice mass has doubled since the 1990s, and it continues to melt with alarming speed. This kind of ice melting threatens hundreds of thousands of people in these areas, as well as plant and animal life. In polar regions are seeing the first signs of climate change, and what the rest of the planet is doing, has a huge impact on arctic region. On this day are organized many conferences around the world, to all be engaged in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and promoting the development of the economy with lower CO2 emissions, and to encourage the efficient use of energy and using of products that are friends of the environment.

This event has grown into one of the most powerful mechanisms to raise awareness of people around the planet on the necessity of including environmental issues among the most pressing problems of today. It's the last moment to change the way of life and become active participants in the sustainable and balanced development, and take responsibility for the preservation of the planet.
